Talking ROOs

As seen in AS-Outback!



Roos graze a lot. They are startled easily. When they're startled, they'll hop around until they get tired. Then, they stop and graze. If they get stuck while hopping, they try to turn back to where they started. You can startle Roos by Bumping, Triggering, Touching, or Damaging a Roo. If a Roo is dies, it calls out to startle nearby Roos.

RooBallet
Like setting up dominos to fall, placing Roos can lead to similar patterns of choreographed movement, or "RooBallet". Although their code makes them turn a bit each hop, they can be set to help ensure that short distance target Roos can be reached reliably. (See info link for more)

For use in your own custom map follow these steps:

1. Remove any previous Roos from your map, save, exit and re-launch Ued.
2. Open DM-RoosOnline.ut2
3. Copy single or groups of Roos to the clipboard.
4. Open your custom map.
5. Somewhere in your map, Right click and go to Edit → Paste → Here.
6. Save your map.
7. Credit me by saying, "Thanks to SuperApe for the Roos!", in your ReadMe file.

I particularly like hunting the little critters down on an onslaught map, then strapping 8 grenades to them

I would like to see superape attach a saddle and let you ride them around on onslaught!!

I must say I did not think of in pouch travel, that would be particularly funny, imagine travel across torlan in the pouch of a kangaroo!!!

Talking This thread has been a real kick.

Thank you for all the kind words.
And thank you for the suggestions.

I did think about a few ideas like:

- Lemmings-like Roo mini-games (puzzles) called RooBallet.
- A Roo skins pack with a RoboRoo, Red and Blue Team Roos, etc.
- Strapping explosives onto a Roo and sending it into the enemy camp. (similar to what cravensmythe mentioned, but on a bigger scale)
- A Roo-hunting gametype.
- New animation: boxing Roo.
(and someone suggested a Roo Mutator to auto-populate any map)

Lots and lots of ideas.
But, right now, I'm mapping and modeling and coding and it's gonna be a while before I get a chance to do anything like this.

On the upside, my map will have similar stuff.

Only ever been roo hunting in RL a couple of times. Didn't really like it much, mainly because of the smell (roos stink to high heaven) but shooting digital roos, now theres fun

Yeah, they taste pretty rough though.
The only good one i've had was a pepper roo steak, so much pepper it takes away the tsate of the meat.
